Virginia King (Ginny), Trainer
What got you into fitness?
I started exercising when I was 35 and attended five classes a week. I decided I needed to know more so I worked through the YMCA Personal Trainer Award and Diploma in Fitness and Exercise (18 modules).
Having worked full time as a PA in marketing, advertising and PR, I finally secured a position with Reebok International. I decided to put my training to use and started classes in the company gym, then local classes and finally in a gym where I was the sole personal trainer for over nine years. I finally opened my own studio in 2004 - I've now been helping people for over 28 years!
What inspires you?
Watching the people I work with improve, be it mobility, flexibility, strength or lifestyle. I have met some truly remarkable people and I admire their positive attitude and determination to succeed. I simply guide them and they do all the work.
Top training tip?
It’s not how long you exercise for, it’s what you do with the time you have. A lot of people are put off exercising because they believe they have to spend an hour at a time working through a series of exercises; the reality is that you can do an effective workout in 20 – 30 minutes.
