You’re never too old to start exercising

Fit For Good class DSC02669

While it may feel that way, research and many inspiring examples show that you are never too old to start exercising. Even if you’ve never worked out before, your body has the same ability to build muscle mass as a world-class athlete!

But this doesn’t mean you should start with a marathon. What’s important is consistency, doing regular exercise to build your strength, stamina and balance. While it may be an annoying change to your routine to start with, the benefits will soon far outweigh any inconvenience. Regular exercise lowers your risk for Alzheimer’s and dementia, heart disease, diabetes, certain cancers, high blood pressure and obesity among other conditions. Weight-bearing exercise can also prevent loss of bone mass and improve your balance, reducing the risk of falling. On top of all of this, if you need any further incentive, the mood benefits of exercise are as great for senior adults as they are for those in their 20s or 30s.

Don’t let your aches and pains put you off, getting moving is the best way to help you manage the pain, improve your strength and confidence, stemming your decline in vitality. At Fit For Good, we’re here to help with our group exercise classes and online fitness sessions for older adults of all abilities.
